We've just added a new way to spend a Sydney day: our Sydney Essentials Plus tour now includes a private, guided 60-minute visit to the Art Gallery of NSW. If you've always wanted to walk through a major gallery without fighting crowds or reading tiny wall labels, this is what that actually looks like.
final-2.mp4A Gallery Educator, Not a Guidebook
Rather than handing you a map and pointing you toward the entrance, we've built this around a private 60-minute session with an expert gallery educator. Your group moves at your own pace, asks the questions you actually have, and skips the parts of a self-guided visit that usually eat up the most time — working out where to go next.
Dedicated Time in the Yiribana Gallery
A meaningful part of the visit is spent in the Yiribana Gallery, the Art Gallery of NSW's dedicated space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art. It's one of the most significant collections of its kind in the country, and having a guide there means the context behind the work doesn't get lost.
Two Buildings, Two Eras
The gallery itself is worth the visit before you've even seen the art. You'll spend time in Naala Badu, the striking modern building with views over Sydney Harbour and Woolloomooloo, and in Naala Nura, the original sandstone building that's stood since 1874. Seeing them side by side is a good reminder that Sydney's history and its present sit closer together than people expect.

Still a Full Sydney Essentials Day
The gallery visit is added on top of everything people already book Sydney Essentials for — including the clifftop views at Watsons Bay — so you're not trading one highlight for another. And as with every Todd Tours experience, it's fully private for your group. No shared vans, no waiting on other travellers.

If a private Sydney day with genuine art and history built in sounds like your kind of day out, get in touch and we'll build it around your dates.
